Research centre to provide funding for listed steel producers

Cognor Group companies – Walcownia Bruzdowa and Ferrostal Łabędy – will receive PLN 11.5 million from the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) under the INNOSTAL programme.

Walcownia Bruzdowa will receive PLN 4.06 million to develop innovative technology for manufacturing next generation profiles for residential and industrial construction purposes, while Ferrostal Łabędy will get PLN 7.44 million to develop “economically and ecologically justified technology for manufacturing steel in an electric arc furnace based on recycling of iron-bearing waste (including scaling).”

The INNOSTAL sector programme was created at the request of the Polish Steel Association and is a part of the NCBR’s Intelligent Development Programme. Its objective is to increase the Polish steel industry’s competitiveness and innovativeness by 2026. Three more competitions are expected to be announced within the programme. The next one, with a planned budget of PLN 95 million, will be announced in the third quarter of 2017.
