Ferrostal Łabędy is a company founded in 1993, building on more than 100 years of steel-making tradition in the city of Gliwice, which is located in the Silesia voivodship, the most industrially developed region in Poland.

Many years of experience in the metals industry, superbly trained staff and modern technical equipment make Ferrostal a production facility that excels at maintaining the highest quality parameters, as proven by a range of industry certificates. Our key products are steels from ingots that have square, rectangular and round profiles, from carbon steels, low-alloy steels and steels with micro-additives. Advanced technology, cost efficiency and process flexibility allow us to produce a very wide range of steel types in short series. Our goods are used in, among others, the automotive and mining industries and the production of pipes and forged goods. A vast majority of the steel produced by Ferrostal is subject to further processing into final products at our rolling mill, which comprises three milling lines that produce a wide assortment of long, hot-rolled products. Our technical equipment and appropriate organisation of manufacturing activities allow us to produce very high quality goods and provide efficient customer service on both small and large orders. The rolling mill uses inputs exclusively from Ferrostal’s steelworks, which guarantees the highest quality. We own a unique reversible rolling technology, which makes it possible to obtain material structures of exceptional durability. This allows us to specialise in the production of flat and round bars for thermal processing, high-quality construction products and suspension steels. The in-house laboratory conducts research on raw steels, steel products, raw materials, steelworks waste, water and waste water.

Ferrostal Łabędy has a technically advanced laboratory, which consists of:

  • Chemical laboratory, which has a steel analysis workshop,
  • Non-metal material analysis workshop and water and waste water workshop.
  • Metals science laboratory, which has a sample preparation workshop and durability and metallography research workshop.

The laboratory meets the following standards: DIN-EN ISO 9001:2000 and PN-EN/IEC 17025:2000

Environmental protection

From an environmental protection viewpoint, Ferrostal Łabędy operates two installations: electric steelworks and rolling mill. In line with existing regulations, it holds an integrated permit for the electric steelworks installations and a decision permitting the generation, recovery and disposal of waste for the rolling mill installation and part of the facility outside the installations, issued by the Silesia voivodship governor. Particulate matter and gas emissions at these installations do not exceed 10% of the permissible levels. The integrated permit includes a permission to recover metal waste received from other entities, including metal packaging waste, metal elements of decommissioned cars and metal parts of old electric and electronic equipment. Closed-end circuits for technological water are operated.
